These are trying times for all of us, and the last 6 weeks have been especially challenging for our local service ministry partners. Pivot Ministries and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission have continued to serve their residents and surrounding communities throughout the pandemic. Covenant's Service Ministry will be collecting donations for our ministry partners on Sunday mornings at our Outdoor Worship Service. Items that are needed are below.
Bridgeport Rescue Mission
The Mission serves not only their residents but also many families in the greater Bridgeport area. Since the start of the pandemic, they have not been operating their mobile kitchen, and have instead been giving out bags of food to local families. Their need for donations has been increasing weekly and they have requested our help with several of the key items provided in the "bag lunches". Items needed are: Cereal; Peanut butter, Jelly - in plastic containers only; Canned Dinners (ravioli, chili, stew), Canned vegetables.
Pivot Ministries - Laundry Products Drive
Name brand soaps, fabric softeners, bleach and non-chlorine bleach.
To explain why they request name brands: "Many of our guys were living on the street and came into Pivot with the clothes on their back. We have been blessed with men's clothing donations, so we can usually give them fresh clothes. However, there is something about healing and being at Pivot - they suddenly are mindful of being clean and well-groomed. They have been given dollar store detergents in the past and were frustrated that they didn't seem to clean well or make their laundry fresh."
If you would like to provide backpacks and/or school supplies for children in Grades K-12 (deadline for donations is Sunday, August 16), you can find full instructions and sign up by clicking HERE.
No matter who you are or where you are in life’s journey, we invite you to join us as we seek God together. We welcome you with your gifts, your pain, your experiences, a mind ready to engage and a heart open to discover. We would love for you to gather with us, engage together curiously about God and this life we share together in this world of His and ours.
Church isn’t a physical address but people in authentic friendship Loving God, Growing Together, and Serving Others.
