12-Week Congregational Bible Study

For the next 12 weeks, an aid for developing your Bible study habits will be posted here (click on the Week number below).  At the end of each week, the Sunday morning message will be based on the study

Read the scripture, even look at other Bible translations (www.biblegateway.com or www.youversion.com), and reflect on the questions given or use the Lectio Divinia (Sacred Reading) below as a guide as you study the Word of God.

Be still and pray:

Lord, help me to be still before You.  May I know the Holy Spirit's presence and voice.

Slowly and deeply read the scripture passage, hear from God in His Word to you, define key words, word order and tone.

Chew on God's Word.  What phrase/word stands out?  What emotions does it evoke?  Don't stop with first response.  How does it fit in your life?

Pray in a two-way conversation with God.  Why did You give me this word?  Why do I feel this way about it?  What will I take away to guide me?

Be quiet and hear the Spirit speak.

Contemplate (Live) by inactivity and letting go.  Find rest and comfort in the arms of your Loving Savior.

Finally, pray.  Lord, what do You want me to do with what You've given me today?
